GLOBAL

Sake's new
drinkers are
out in the world.

Sake exports keep growing, and in 2024 traditional sake brewing was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. But exporting bottles alone does not grow a market. What is needed is the experience of local people meeting the makers and enjoying sake within their own culture.

sakejump exports the events themselves, honed in Japan. Young brewers travel abroad, pour their own sake, and tell its story. By building that experience together with local partners, we grow a market that lasts, not a one-off promotion.

About Overseas Editions

About overseas editions

From confirmation to the day itself takes at least six months — that is how much time is needed to fix the date and venue and begin preparations. The operating budget is secured by the local operating company; camo joins as an advisor, coordinating the participating breweries.

What we aim for is not the interest of a single company or brand, but an altruistic, public-minded effort to grow the sake market and the industry in that region. Importers, distributors, restaurants and everyone else involved with sake building a market together, beyond old rivalries — an effort for mutual, shared prosperity.

sakejump HK2026

1881 Heritage FWD House, Tsim Sha Tsui

Over 2,500 visitors across three days. 100+ celebrities and influencers attended and posted (397 social posts). Covered by 10+ major Hong Kong media outlets.

In its second year, Hong Kong became a moment in the city's cultural scene, not just a sake event. Coverage ranged from culture and lifestyle media like Hypebeast Hong Kong and POPBEE to business media such as the Hong Kong Economic Times, and 20 government guests including the Consul-General of Japan attended. Three days that reached a young Hong Kong generation living in the context of fashion and culture, one that sake had not yet met.

SAKEJUMP HONG KONG 2025

1881 Heritage FWD House, Tsim Sha Tsui

18 young breweries from Japan.

This is where it all began. As the first overseas edition of Wakate no Yoake, sponsored by FWD Hong Kong, it was held in a historic colonial building. Aiming to reach not only sake lovers but Hong Kong consumers who rarely drink sake, top Japanese bartenders were invited to serve craft-sake cocktails. The response here led to sakejump HK2026 and the expansion into Europe.

SAKEJUMP CHINA 2025

POLPAS, Olympic Forest Park, Chaoyang, Beijing

20+ breweries from Japan.

The first edition in China, the top export market for Japanese sake by value. In collaboration with WOODSTOCK, which runs some of China's largest urban events, it was held as part of the popular, locally rooted festival Yà'ào Cháo Yǐn Jié. It brought sake closer than ever to a young generation with few chances to encounter it, alongside established fans.

OUR SAKE MARKET

Markthalle Neun, Kreuzberg (built 1891)

12 booths, 9 breweries and importers, 50+ labels, 158 bottles sold, 700+ tasting glasses served. Hosted by Our Sake Club × sakejump.

The first OUR SAKE MARKET was held at Markthalle Neun, a historic market hall at the heart of Berlin's food culture. Co-host Our Sake Club runs a bar, shop and online store in Kreuzberg and has poured sake in Germany for over five years. sakejump served as the bridge from Japan, curating and inviting the participating breweries (Yuta Abe of Abe Shuzo, Takashi Kuramoto of Kuramoto Sake Brewers, Tairyo Sato of haccoba - Craft Sake Brewery - and others) and accompanying them to Berlin. The collaboration grew out of a connection with Richie Hawtin, the world-renowned musician, artist and techno DJ. Richie, who also holds the honorary title of Sake Samurai, resonated with our wish to see the next generation of breweries leap forward, and that chemistry between sake and techno culture came to life. Kochi Prefecture set up its own booth with SUI SUI, its first attempt to bring a region's appeal directly to Berlin. Each day had a different face: Thursday opened amid the energy of Berlin's weekly Street Food Thursday, Friday drew 100+ to a five-course pairing dinner at a local Italian restaurant, and Saturday saw farmers-market shoppers carry home bottles chosen through repeated tastings. With the calligraphy for 'sake' hung at the front of the hall, for one week sake became part of the Berlin landscape.

Richie Hawtin × sakejump

The Magazine, Hyde Park

In London, sakejump partnered with Carousel, a local music event series, to hold an evening at The Magazine in Hyde Park. The collaboration grew out of a connection with Richie Hawtin, the world-renowned musician, artist and techno DJ. Richie, who also holds the honorary title of Sake Samurai, resonated with our wish to see the next generation of breweries leap forward, and the night came together from that. Leo, joining from Lisbon, Portugal, shared the bill on a night where music and sake crossed. From Japan, Yuta Abe of Abe Shuzo, Takashi Kuramoto of Kuramoto Sake Brewers, and Tairyo Sato of haccoba - Craft Sake Brewery - took part, pouring and talking about their own sake with local drinkers. As an effort to raise the cultural presence of sake in Europe, continued editions are planned.

One Model

One model for going global.

Independent local team + sakejump

Hong Kong, Beijing, Berlin, London: each city looks different, but the model is the same. An independent local team runs the event; camo lends the sakejump brand and brings the breweries. What happens on the ground is decided by the team that knows the ground. That is how we grow a market that lasts, not a one-off export.

What every city shares is this: the makers go there in person. It is people, not labels, that build a market.
